Hi all

Had my latest biopsy and more cancer was found, had an appointment with the specialist and he said surgery was my best option even though I told him I have concerns with surgery due to my spinal damage. Had an appointment with the surgeon and he has said surgery was not the best option due to my spinal damage and copd and I should not have been told that surgery was the best option. So he has suggested brachytherapy is the best option (pillar to post comes to mind). It seems no one is working from the same sheet. No discussion had been had between them before my appointment with the surgeon. I thought there was a healthcare team where everyone discussed the best way to go forward, every appointment I have it is a different person, the nurses said if I call there is no one available to answer the calls. How can I be sure the right course of action is being taken.

I am losing faith in what is going on around me.

  • Sorry to read you are being given conflicting advice CTX. There should have been a multidisciplinary team meeting (MDT) to discuss what options you were to be offered. My MDT resulted in me being offered surgery or hormone therapy plus radiotherapy. Brachytherapy wasn’t an option for me. I would ask for information on your case from this meeting. F the nurses aren’t able to answer calls then find a secretary of one of your consultants and ask for the notes.

Hope you find a way forward.
