Hi Lovely People

Hubbys PSA on diagnosis 597, dropped to 7.95 after a couple of months on Firmagon Hormone Injections.

After 3 rounds of docetaxel chemo PSA down to 1.41  No new bone mets and shrinkage on the ones that are there. Finished 6th chemo last week.  We have blood tests on 7th and scan on 8th June,  We then have a phone call with "our team"

He has gone through chemo well with very few side effects until this last one. Very tired.  He was fit and healthy before diagnosis in Nov 21.

Has anybody else had Firmagon followed by docetaxel and if so what was the next step.  Again they won't say until we are at the next step, and I want to know what questions I should be asking.

Thanks

Gin

  • Hi

Normally the next step is radiotherapy, but this will not happen for a few months as he needs time to recover, you “team” should have the answers there.

He will regain some strength back, but the hormone injections will still make him tired and fatigued, if he’s lost his hair that usually grows back, mine did. It’s more a question of listening to what your body tells you, excersize when you can rest when it tells you, his PSA if anything like mine, will eventually drop to below 0.0 that’s after the radiotherapy if he’s given this, even if not it should still drop significantly.

He did well coming through chemo, with me if there was a side effect you bet I got it. So keep positive he’s got years in front of him.

    Stay safe

  • Hi Joe

Thanks for the reply.  Really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.

This is hard enough to deal with let alone adding the "French System" to it.

Hope you and the better half are still doing ok.

  • Hi Gin

Been reading a bit about the ‘French system’ where I can only imagine that’s where you live. If not a apologise they have a top class system, plus excellent treatment.

For you ladies like my wife, are the best treatment we could hope for, Worrying and stressing doing as much as you can to help us, what would we do without you.

    Stay safe
