Hi I am 65 years old from Ni.Ireland I had a prostate biopsy done on 23rd March 2022. I was supposed to get my results on the 13 th May.. This appointment was then cancelled until the 8th June . I actually know my results through my local GP. Results came back positive for Cancer..I don't know how severe it is ,but can I assume it's not too bad as my appointment has been delayed for another 4 weeks . I would appreciate if anyone can help. Thank you .
Kate, sorry for being nosey but how was the Chemo? I've never known anyone who has had Chemo.
When I was diagnosed last year the first thing I thought of was Chemo, started to panic, like you do.
Keep in touch.
I know more people now with Cancer than without.

Hi steve
I’ve had chemo, a few years back, me being me, after two days it hit like a train, mega hot sweats, fatigue then eventually, no hair, brown nails, chemo brain ( forgetfulness) aching limbs. A few other things that slips my mind at the moment. One thing that was important and proved to be necessary was temperature, which I did morning and night and a good job too. After my third treatment I got sepsis, no idea how but although I felt fine my temperature was in the hundred plus, hospitalised, single room, for four days. With iv line stuck in me.
That was my chemotherapy, which may I say, a lot of people do not get, suppose I’m just lucky like that.
Stay safe
Joe
Hi Petsin my PSA was 6.7 had the biopsy all 12 samples contained cancer cells given a gleason score of 4+3 I opted for prostate removal which was due in April 2020 but was cancelled due to covid eventually got operation in August 2020 microscopic cancer cells found in my seminal vesicle PSA after operation. was 0.1 and went up to 0.4 in 6 months consultant not happy with the rise suggested radiotherapy was on prostap injections one a month for three months before I started 20 rounds of radiotherapy Monday to Friday for 4 weeks PSA is below 0.1 and on prostap injections for 2 years one every 3 moths (another year to go with prostap)
Kate,
How did your Chemo go this week? A bit hot for it mind.
Hope it all went ok.
Steve (SteveCam)
Hello Petsin. I am 67, also with a Gleason score 3+4. Other tests showed it had not spread beyond the prostate. That was on June 2. The doctor did not seem concerned and did not feel I had to rush to make a decision. But the only choices offered to me were radiation and surgery. Both come with considerable side effects and this is my main issue. I will have to make a decision soon.
If I can offer any more information, just ask. I support you on your journey.
Hi Good morning Tatami53. A very warm welcome to this forum. Sorry to hear about your recent diagnose but let me assure you that you are not alone .. The guys and sometimes ladies on here will offer you what ever information and advice you may need they are brilliant the nicest group of people to chat with .We are all on here for the same reason to help support each other .We all have been diagnosed with prostate Cancer albeit at different stages of treatment and higher and lower Gleason scores. You and I have the same diagnose I have been offered the same choices as yourself both have a very positive outcome,I have made my choice which is Radiotherapy. I am hoping to hear within the next week when I can start the first stage of my process which is as you probably know is Hormone treatment for 3 months then 20 sessions of radiotherapy in tandem with another 3 months of Hormone treatment. There are loads of guys on here ho have been through treatment they can give you a better insight of what to expect from both choices..Your Doctor is right take your time get as much information as you can then you can make the right choice of which road to go down . Sorry for being a bit long winded wishing you all the best take one day at a time . Keep in touch and let me know how things turn out I and everyone else is here to listen and support you . By the way my name is Pete.
Pete, hi. I'm Dee. Please be long-winded. I'm starved for information and I live in Japan, so this entire experience is surreal for me on several levels.
I'm doing my research as best I can and this forum allows me to connect, because, despite there being millions of people in Tokyo, I have been extremely isolated for almost 2.5 years because of Covid.
Thank you for the information. At this moment, radiation is looking about a million times better than surgery, but this will be contingent on what the doctor says.
Please stay in touch, if you like and/or via your posts here with your progress. I will do the same once a decision has been made. BTW, I'm actually 68, but I was so excited to actually "meet" someone here that had a similar diagnosis, I just grabbed the first number that popped in my head.
Be well and I wish you good health, and thank you for the response.
Hi everyone .Well I have started my first round of treatment 2 tablets daily for 3 months . Bicaluamide 150mg and Tamoxifen 20mg has anyone had any experience of these tablets.and side effects ? Hope everyone is keeping well and fighting fit . And Dee from Japan will keep you informed how tablets are working BTW my age is 65 I am due to retire end of January 2023 hopefully all my treatments will be finished . Looking forward to your replies . Thanks to everyone for your input and support Pete .
