Four weeks since my last biopsy. Now I have to another one as the surgeon feels that they may have missed the cancer as what he is seeing on the MRI does not match the results of the biopsy, so he wants me to have one under general so they can take more samples this time to double check.
Fingers crossed that the results will come back about the same as the first, only one out of 18 showed cancer. I feel I am in good hands by him doing this as he said he wants to give the right treatment instead of unnecessary treatment. so he wants to double check. The worse part is the waiting trying to stay positive and keeping everyone from worrying.
The journey continues
Hi CtX,
I can’t believe they keep taking 18 biopsies under a local anaesthetic. Sometimes none. .it’s so painful! In America some drs perform biopsies with the direct assistance of a live MRI. This way they target the suspicious area only in real time. It makes sense. I don’t know why they don’t do it here.
anyway good luck with getting your more accurate results but it might be worth asking about live scanning during biopsy.
all the very best,
Louli
Morning Louli & CTX,
I felt like a pin cushion when my biopsies were done. Your would have thought I was giving birth, with my legs in the stirrups (not the most flattering of positions).
The most embarrassing thing was talking to the Radiographer when I got my results. I recognised her face but it was only when she said that it was her performing the biopsies it clicked. It's a wonder she recognised me.
Anyway, best of luck with the biopsy.

Hi Steve,
goodmorning!! Yes it’s very primitive to do blind biopsies. Most of them miss the target and cause pain, misery and the more you take the higher the risk for post biopsy complications.
OMG! I can’t think of anything worse than having someone I know being there.
poor you!
Kind regards,
Louli
Louli,
When I was having the biopsies I naturally thought "I'll never see her again". How wrong I was!
I don't know who was more embarrassed. I couldn't do her job. What if it was a friend or neighbour?
Imagine the scene, in the garden hanging out the washing, the lady next door comes out. You say "I saw your husband yesterday".
It's my sense of humour, it never deserted me through this.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for making me laugh , my biopsy was painful and I was thinking at the time where did it all go wrong and has he got hold of the right end of the thing he was shoving up me.
I was making so much noise he only took 4 samples.
cheers Tony
