Hi all. I have just come off zoladex after nearly five years. My onco said I should come off it while I am still fit and go back on it if my PSA rises.
It is called intermittent treatment. Anyone heard of it, doing it, thinking about it etc. I am more than a bit anxious!
The theory is that for each of us, HT works for a fixed time - so if you can insert a holiday or two, the end of that fixed time is further away.
Don't forget the benefits of not taking it, and provided you make sure your PSA is monitored (as well as report any new symptoms), you can always go back on it.
I think it's important to agree, in advance, what level of PSA would be a 'danger' signal, and how frequently you'll monitor the PSA. Once that's in your GP notes, you'll be able to arrange PSA tests through the GP receptionists*.
*though policy might be different in your area!

If I can't beat this, I'm going for the draw.
Meanwhile, my priority is to live while I have the option.
