Hi Lovely people

Hubby diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in November last year, it had already spread to bones in spine .  Anybody out there with spine mets and I if so how long have you had them and what has been your treatment plan from diagnosis to date.

Thanks Ginny

  • Diagnosed with t4m1n1b gleason 9 in September started hormone therapy prostap 3 which I need for life and allso zoledronic acid infusion for my bones also had 6 round of doxataxel,i am only 52 years old they reckon the cancer started about 7 years ago and only started spreading in th last 12 months, doing ok on the chemo only got 1 more round left been told they can only manage the cancer and not cure it

  • I to was diagnosed with advance prostate on 3rd September 2021 spread to spine, shoulders, hips, legs, etc.

originally went to GP. With extreme rib pain CT scan and biopsy followed which confirmed the worst.

was put on Zytiga which seems extremely good.

worst thing is the sweats which I get about every hour, I can live with that, in fact I just want to live as long as possible.

    I am 74 until Monday when I be 75.

Gleason 9 PSA currently 9 (was way up in the hundreds)

Any other information just message me.

    Regards Ray

  • I have mets in my spine and pelvis, diagnosed march 2021, my treatments and story is on my profile.

  • Hi Ginny,

Think the easiest way would be to read my profile, this may give you a better idea of my situation.

    Take care, Tom.

  • Sorry to hear about your stage 4 diagnosis at only 52. I  have just had the same diagnosis and i am also 52. Shocking.

Ive started Hormone tablets and my first HT injection is on 16 March. Waiting for a treatment plan with the oncologist this week.

Wishing you well. Reassuring to connect.

  • Hi Ginny

I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer  with mets to spine last August, had radiotherapy to spine straight away and Degralix injections started. Then put on Abiraterone  and Prednisolone, along with that had radiotherapy to  prostate over Christmas.

Degralix , Abiraterone and Prednisolone are for life.

I do get bad sweats and struggle to sleep but it has knocked my PSA down to 0.1 so all ok at the moment.

  • Hello Ginny

Sure we’ve talked before but I have mets in my spine and other places, hip, ribs, shoulders, seems the first lace it attacks when it breaks out. Mine was classed as very aggressive stage four Gleason 9/10 with a PSA of 893. I was put into a stampede trial, mine was six sessions of docetaxel, followed by twenty sessions of radiotherapy and prostap 3 hormone injections, all these where done quick fire to hit the cancer hard.

That was five and a half years ago, I’m on enzalutamide now with my PSA rising to 6.2 if the enzalutamide stops then chemotherapy may be on offer again, depending on my health, or hopefully one or two of the new hormone treatments.

When I see my specialist nurse or the oncologist, once told how things are going, my question is what’s plan B, there are a number of new trials out there so always looking for alternatives.

    Stay safe

    Joe

  • Hi Joe

I didn’t think they gave radiotherapy if you had spine Mets?  Was told by urologist straight after biopsy that hubby would probably not have radiotherapy.  He has about 10 spots on his spine?   Hubby on docetaxel and Firmagon.  Had no symptoms of cancer apart from shoulder, he thought it was golf related.  Doing really well on chemo.  To look at him you would not know anything was wrong with him.  Can he have radiotherapy twice, ie now whilst he is strong and fit and another lot later down the line, or is it a once only thing.  Thanks Ginny

  • Hi Ginny

Mine was all due to the stampede trial I was on, I to had trouble with my shoulder and had one session of radiotherapy on it, this was five years ago.
They can do radiotherapy again, but are reluctant to do so as it can cause problems, the first doses are aimed at shrinking the tumour, have a look at this link.   https://www.cancer.gov/news-events/cancer-currents-blog/2019/bone-metastases-pain-single-radiation-dose

    Stay safe

  • Hi Joe

Apologies, on second glass of wine, along with the love of my life having this shite disease, my sister was diagnosed with Glioblastoma 2 weeks before he was.  Straight in at stage 4, May have until November this year. He has now no pain in his shoulder at all, or in any parts of his body, so would it be wise to leave radiotherapy to later.  Gone onto 3rd glass of wine.  Ginny
