Finally got diagnosed and all results from hospital official diagnosis is t4n1m1b gleason score 9 uncurable cancer. starting on hormone therapy prostap 3 and chemo every 3 weeks for 6 rounds just wondering if anyone has any idea what might come next psa was 412 come down to 5.2 in 6 weeks now i am half way through chemo got 3 more rounds left not having to many side effects that i can't manage still working but i do take 3 days off after each chemo which seems to help.my age is 52

  • Your cancer may be incurable, but the hormone therapy will usually hold it for a while, and the chemo can be very effective. Once you've had the six rounds, you should get a break, and then they'll be considering if anything further is needed immediately.

A lot of the decisions will be based on your symptoms, so always report anything new that concerns you.

If I can't beat this, I'm going for the draw.

Meanwhile, my priority is to live while I have the option.

  • Hi

Not having many side effects is a big plus with chemotherapy, was radiotherapy offered ? You still have to be careful with working and chemotherapy small viruses at this time of year cannot be good for you, so temperature is a good guide.

Your PSA should drop further, which is great keep positive.

    Stay safe

  • Thanks for your reply

  • Thanks for the information

  • Hi I’m on a similar path to you. Same Gleason score and 6 rounds of chemo. 24 hours after each round given a white blood cell stimulating jab to keep infections away. After chemo given 20 rounds of RT and have been on Prostap 3 for 3 years. PSA just started to rise so oncologist is monitoring levels 3 monthly.  He may add an extra drug if need be. There are plenty of options and I’m sure you will respond well.

  • Thank you for your message very interesting

  • Sorry to here of your diagnosis Masrat, glad you are responding well to treatment though. I've not had chemotherapy yet but hear if your body can tolerate it, it can be really effective. Good luck
