Hi all
Apologies for the extra posts as I'm a newbie here. I just wondered if anyone had the Fimagon jab plus Enzalutamide for advanced PC and how they were doing?
I'm doing fine on Firmagon and have got my PSA down from over 400 in July to 6 at the beginning of September. All the fatigue that went with untreated PC has gone.
Thanks
Thanks. I was very pleased. Still some bone pain but Firmagon seems to be a very good drug. I'm therefore a little apprehensive about adding Enzalutamide but they seem to think that it will produce some good results in terms of halting progression and tolerance.
Hi Sussex20
I have been having 12 weekly jabs but have also been put onto Zytiga which I think is not dissimilar to Enzalutamide in that it suppresses the cancer growth. They are both very expensive drugs and are not prescribed if they are not going to help in extending one's life.
I think that Enzalutamide is used where the patient has not had chemotherapy, often for reasons of age or health. My PSA was originally 230 in 2017 but dropped down to about 1. It then started rising, hence the need for an additional drug. Talk it through with your Oncologist as there are like to be some side effects but, if I were you, I would probably give it a go. If it doesn't agree with you for some reason or another, you will be allowed to give it up.
Best of luck with your decision and future treatments.
