Thank you to all that replied to my post regarding my Husbands Prostate Cancer, I appreciate it you were a great help. After pestering people all day yesterday and lodging my complaint with the appropriate authority, late yesterday - about 6ish my husbands GP rang me and said “Your husbands PSA isn’t as bad as we thought” ! I was naturally pleased but flabbergasted at the same time. His PSA was 6.3 and I’m not sure how that is for a 71 year old but originally 4 years back at diagnosis it was 23 (and has only ever taken Prostap).  How can this happen? They told me he was iron deficient and anaemic and not making as much progress as they would have liked and they have admitted him  to hospital for further tests. I’m at a complete loss as to what has happened here! But hopefully soon we’ll find out if it has spread or not!

  • I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but hormone therapy is very good at reducing PSA and 'holding' the disease for some years.

The specific PSA is not really important (it varies from single figures to thousands). What IS important is the 'trend': is it falling or rising? That will influence whether intervention is needed. Also important is HOW FAST it is falling or rising, which tells you a fair bit about how the disease is progressing AND/OR whether or not treatment is effective.

So what really matters here is, has the PSA been lower since Prostap started, and is now rising, or has it been stable all the way through?

  • Hi Catherine

I might have mentioned or in another post, I was iron defiant and you can have tablets or injections to boost that apart from eating foods like sprouts and spinach ones with iron in them. They will get to the bottom of the problem medicine is far more advanced than a handful of years ago.

It was good you did what you did, getting answers can be hard, but keep pursuing the point and they will come.

I read what you wrote to my wife, who says she knows what your going through and sends her best wishes and hopes all goes well.

    Stay safe.

No not asking anything just giving an update. My husbands PSA has been in a constant steady decline since going on Prostap.
