It's a year now since I finished Radiotherapy, but still having problems controlling my Bowels, I like to keep active by long walks and DIY., but after an hours walking or exertion I need to empty them, this makes it very difficult to go anywhere without a toilet so I am having to restrict my activities to the moors. Anyone else having these problems?

  • Some people have longer term issues after radiotherapy. I have unpredictable issues, can leak and sometimes pass a lot of mucus. I had a colonoscopy which diagnosed radiation proctitis.

This is where the lining of the novel has been damaged by the radiation. If I were you I’d ask GP for a referral to get checked out. I take Fybogel each morning which mostly helps but I can still get caught out.

Thanks Ido4, I am getting exactly the same symptom as you, I take Loperamide every 4 or 5 days which helps. I have my six monthly Consultants review in six weeks so I will mention it to him.
