Hi I'm new am feeling as thou I have no support, my hubby has been great, but finding it hard as he has had to do everything for me. I'm looking to chat with others who are going through this.
Hi Kerryp02f09a and welcome to the ovarian group.
I’m sorry to read that you don’t feel you have much support, and noticed that you haven’t had a reply yet so I wanted to respond to make sure you knew your post has been seen and bumped up the discussion list.
As you don’t have information in your profile, it might be difficult for others to reply to you and be able to share their experiences. Are you able to share with us what stage you are in the process? Have you been diagnosed and had surgery/treatment?
I had a different type of gynaecological cancer and had treatment and major surgery which initially meant I needed a lot of help and support as I couldn’t do anything for myself. I found it difficult to find myself in a situation where I felt so helpless and it was very frustrating to need to depend on my partner so much, so I can definitely identify with how difficult that can feel.
If you can tell us a little more about what your issues are, I’m sure others will be able to help and offer support for you.
Sarah xx
Hi Kerry, It is always good to talk and share feelings and treatment. I have been through six lots of chemo and major debulking surgery. Is that what you have been going through? It has been very hard on my husband and I have felt pretty useless and unable to do all the things I normally can in my life. But I am now in remission after that long haul so all the vile chemotherapy did its trick and was certainly worth it. It is a hard grind but you'll get through it! We found a daily walk in the fresh air and an old movie in the evening were very uplifting. Good luck!
Hi Sarah Thank you for your email. I was misdiagnosed in Oct last year with Ovarian stage 3 cancer. I had 6 chemo was really ill side effects after each chemo. Talk about crash. I finished chemo in June am now on maintenance tablets that make me nauseous all day and night. Dizzy because of blood pressure and breathless. Constant since June. Got sickness pills but maintenance pills take at night and awful in the morning. The Team I don't feel offer any support. I am lucky I don't know many who have gone thru cancer. My husband is a great guy but all I do is cry, he has had enough he has been doing everything I need to chat with someone who knows what I'm going thru.
Wishing you the best Sarah and hope to hear from you soon. Hugs. Sometimes it's all we need a hug with some reassurance. Xxxxx
Hi thank you for your reply I had the chemo x 6 however after every one I crashed badly with side effects. I get dizzy and breathless so scared to walk in case I fall. Blood pressure. My team are not a support at all. Since stopping the chemo I'm nauseas all day and night. I seem to get worse not better. My bloods all over the place. I cry all the time hubby great but hard. Xxxx. So glad it's worked for you. Wishing you all. The best for the future. It's the side effects trying to cope with. Xxxxxx
I too am v sick every morning. I’m having an endoscopy (camera down my throat) on Monday, after which I am going to try going gluten-free for a month in the hope that may help my gut. I feel sure the side effects will wear off eventually. Have you been tested for coeliacs, Lymes, helicobacter pylori etc?
No just given new anti sickness tablets also breathlessness and don't want to eat. Any suggestions. Xxxxx
It is my GP who has run the blood tests for coeliacs, Lymes etc and although they were all negative I felt very supported just by them being done. My very big guess for me is that all the chemo and surgery etc last year triggered some sort of reaction in my gut which is causing the sickness so that's where I keep looking for answers.
I don't know how many people give up the maintenance drugs because they make them sick. There may be a thread on this forum about that.
But I would ask your GP if there could be any other cause for your sickness and they may do blood tests for the things I mentioned before - plus diabetes.
I know what you're going through, the sickness is so depressing when you think treatment is over and you should be getting back to your old self. I'll tell you if I learn anything that could help.
Hiugs.
Thanks for your reply. I got some wrist bands with the pressure button... Got sick on a cruise once and they helped so going to get some from the chemist or maybe a tens machine might help... I will try anything. I spend most of the day in bed as if move will be sick. Xxxxx so down.
