Hi
ii had a full hysterectomy in December. I was called back after a month to be told I had this rare ovarian cancer. They burst the cyst to remove it which means cells were released into my abdomen. I have been given the option of chemo but the consultant seems to be steering me to annual scans. Has anyone else had or got this. I am not sure which option is best. I went today to say yes to chemo but have an infection. Any advice please?
Hi I had a full hysterectomy in November as a biopsy showed I had uterine cancer, when they removed my ovaries they did histology on the cyst on my left ovary which also came back as having cancer. I was offered a staging operation and chemo. I had a second operation in January to remove lymph nodes and thankfully they came back clear, I was advised to have chemo as they couldn’t be sure stray cancer cells hadn’t been released, I have had my first round 10 days ago & Ned 5 further sessions, 3 weeks apart. Hope this helps.
Take advice from your consultant and clinical nurse specialist - hopefully they can guide you to the right decision. They’re the experts and will advocate for what they genuinely believe to be the right and safest route for you for the best possible long term outcome.
if you have a good GP, you could always ask their opinion too - sometimes they can offer an impartial but also knowledgeable perspective too
I would but they say the decision is mine. They won’t commit to what is the right thing to do. I understand but it doesn’t help me. That’s why I am hoping someone has had this cancer and has a knowledge of outcomes etc.
