I was diagnosed in August 2021 after debulking surgery in July 2021. It was discovered during a smear test that my Gp struggled to do. Was sent for an ultrasound which I was told showed Multiple Fibroids. This was also going on around Covid 19 so all appointment were by telephone consultation. I was sent for an Mri which then caused my scans to be sent for a mdt meeting followed by urgent facevto face appointment with gynae consultant who informed me my fibroids were misbehaving and I was being seen by Proffessor Christina Fotopoulou At Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital in London. That appointment was 5 days later where I was informed I had a large mass in my pelvis which was not Fibroids. I had a choice chemotherapy followed by surgery or surgery followed by Chemotherapy. 10 days later I had my debulking surgery. 13th July 2021. I was diagnosed grade 3c Rare Slow Growing Serous Ovarian Cancer in August 2021. I Started Chemotherapy 1st September 2021. I had Carboplatin and Paclitaxel which I was severely allergic to ending up in anaphylactic shock. I also gad a year of Avastin. My last treatment of Avastin was October 2022. I was put on 4 monthly checks.
It's currently 13 th July 2025 and I have been back under treatment regime once again. I had been having 4 monthly bloods and scans and in December 24 I was moved to 6 monthly reviews after my scans and bloods remained clear. However in January I mentioned i had smelly and cloudy urine and I thought a couple of hernias along my scar line. My oncologist wanted urgent blood tests and ultrasound and Ct which showed nothing like always but my scans were sentbto London and in March I was told there was a small mass in my bowel. I started Tamoxifen which I couldn't tolerate and was moved to Letrozol which wasn't affecting the growth. I had a Pet scan which actually showed the extent of my cancer. Which is exactly where it was 4 years ago.
I am currently on Trametinib every other day to rid of mass in my bowel abdominal and Pelvic cavity. If it weren't for my smelly urine it may have gone completely undetected which is why Ovarian cancer is hard to treat.
So sorry to hear of everything you are going through. There is nothing I can add as I was only diagnosed 3 weeks ago with a rare low grade serous and that’s why your post jumped out at me. Would be very grateful if you if you could offer any advice or info re treatments etc. Best wishes.
