Waiting for Ultrasound results

I went to my doctor about a month ago because of swelling and bloating in my stomach and a very painful right leg which has been going on for at least 3 months. She examined me and found a lump in lymph node on my leg, although she suspects IBS she sent me for an ultrashound and CA125 blood test. I had an MRI and they found something that looked unhealthy so I then had to have an internal ultrasound which was very painful (!!). I asked her if everything looked ok and she said there were no problems in the pelvic area and to make an appointment with the doctor for the results. Although I don’t believe in counting your chickens before they’re hatched, I can’t help but worry a little bit. My CA125 blood test came back clear although from reading posts that’s not a very clear indication that cancer doesn’t exist, it’s just a pointer. The reason for this blog is just to thank Macmillan for this invaluable website and to all you lovely people supporting each other. The only person who knows about this is my husband, I don’t see the point in worrying my daughters until I know what, if anything, is going on but sometimes it helps to talk and as there’s no one to talk to, here I am! Good luck to everyone who is receiving treatment or who has just been diagnosed and to the those who know someone with cancer, what would we do without this website!

    Hello Bobbie54

Don't know if this helps but after my pelvic ultrasound, I was sent immediately to my GP and got results the same day as it was clear that I had OC. While GP didn't use the C word with me, we all knew the score and I had it from the horse's mouth (my surgeon) 5 days later.

If the ultrasound clearly shows something, they shouldn't keep you waiting....

So no news is good news?

Keep your chin up and take care.

    Julia X

Hi Julia, thanks for replying and yes it does help because I thought at the time if they suspected OC I would have been seen sooner rather than later so I'm not unduly worried, as you rightly say, no news is good news! How are things with you? Bobbie X

Hi citygirl, brilliant! Another success story! Brilliant! I'm pretty sure now that I don't have OC even if I have the same symptoms. The receptionist at my doctor's surgery phoned to say the ultrasounds are back but I can't see the doctor until the 8th, but she said the doctor hadn't said it was urgent, so I think it's safe to say it's not OC. Still need to get to the bottom of it though, my tummy is swelling on a daily basis, at this rate I'm going to look 6 months pregnant and that truly would be a miracle!!

    Hi everyone.

I'm new here but have joined as this post is of particular interest to me. I have had an ultrasound which showed something on my right ovary but they weren't sure what - all I know is that he said it's not liquid) but he didn't seem really worried (maybe they are just very calm people...). I have now had a blood test and MRI and have an appointment with the gynachologist next week (3 weeks after the MRI). I tried to bring the appointment forward but when I phoned they said all the appointment had been taken, so it seems like an eternity before knowing the results. I hate waiting, and feel more worried as each day goes passed. Maybe they would have phoned if it's bad news.....

Bobby54 - I hope your results are ok. It occurs to me that we get our results on the same day!

    x

Hi Laura, the waiting is the worst I think, once you know, hopefully it's ok or not you can then get on with it, it's just this flippin waiting! No one seemed concerned at the hospital after the MRI and ultrasound and I wasn't asked to go to my doctor asap either, just wait one to two weeks for the results and now they're in they are still not in any hurry to see me which appears to be the same for you doesn't it, so, no news is good news, I'm absolutely sure after reading a few posts here that if they had spotted anything to cause concern they would have seen us within 24 hours, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you to, let me know how it goes? X

Thank you for your message. I found it very reassuring and I'm sure you're right in that we would have heard by now if they had spotted something urgent needs treatment. Hopefully we will both have good news to report back after our appointments on the 8th x
