Hi!
Was wondering if anyone has experienced rib and shoulder pain post op. I had Cytoreductive a month ago and I have been hospitalised for a month. Since I am right handed and it was at times difficult to move I made most of the effort with the right side so I’m wondering if I’ve just pulled a muscle as it seems to go shoulder, shoulder blade and rib, also it hurts when it presses. Or could it be that the diaphragm is aggravated as they took a lesion off there. I am so paranoid, I don’t know what to think.
Thanks
Hi RMM77
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and I'm sorry to read about the pain you're experiencing.
Although I'm not a member of this group I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again. While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi RMM77
I’m sorry I can’t help with your actual query as my gynaecological surgery although very similar in some respects to yours was different in others. When you had your surgery did you have your abdomen inflated for the surgery to be carried out? That can cause pain in the shoulders from trapped wind post surgery until it dissipates, but as your surgery was some time ago that should have gone.
Have you spoken with your consultant about your pain? It’s natural to have some pain after a major surgery like this but I understand how every little thing can make you panic. I would call your CNS to have a chat first and see if you need to be reviewed, even if just for some reassurance. Hopefully it could set your mind at rest, and I hope that apart from this issue your recovery is progressing.
