Hi. I had a hysterectomy a few weeks ago after a 20cm cyst was found on my ovary. The consultant told me they believed it was a rare type of germ cell cancer called an immature teratoma- I received the histology results last week which confirmed it was.
I’ve been waiting since then for the multi disciplinary meeting to find out if I need chemo.
I just wondered if anyone else has had this type of cancer and whether you had chemo? I’m quite nervous about chemo although I do want to have it really to make sure it’s gone!
Thanks
Hi Merseyside 123 welcome to the forum. I don't know enough about your query to answer with any certainty. However, I know for sure that by me replying it will pop it onto the thread snd some of the lovely folks in there will be along soon to see if they can offer and input, advice or information for you.
Hi Merseyside123 and welcome to the group.
I haven’t had the same type of cancer, but if you type “immature teratoma” into the search function (the magnifying glass at the top left of the page) this will bring up other posts where this is discussed. It is rare, so there are not too many posts, but I have found a few and by doing this search you may be able to connect with others who have been through this. The link I’ve provided here has information from Macmillan which you might also find helpful.
Sarah xx
