Hi everyone,
My mind is all over the place right now, and I’m hoping someone here might have some insight. Recently, I went to A&E with pain in an area completely unrelated to my ovaries. After a CT scan and blood tests, the doctor told me I have a cyst on my left ovary that looks malignant.
The next day, a gynecologist called to confirm that, based on the size of the cyst (11cm x 8cm) and my CA125 levels (5000), it’s very likely cancer. She also mentioned that the cyst appears to be positioned between both ovaries and might be attached to both of them.
In addition, they found a significant amount of bilirubin and a small amount of blood in my urine. However, they’ve ruled out any issues with my gallbladder or liver, which is what I initially went to A&E for. Does anyone know what could cause bilirubin in urine in this situation?
I’ve been told I need to have my abdomen drained on Tuesday because there’s thick fluid buildup that’s likely causing the discomfort near my gallbladder area.
Has anyone been through something similar? I haven’t had any of the usual symptoms—my periods have always been regular, I don’t get indigestion, I don’t have a constant full feeling, no frequent urination, and no pain at all.
Any advice or shared experiences would mean a lot.

It’s absolutely awful and I am so sorry that you’re going through it too. The CA125 number scared the hell out of me and I still can’t get that out of my head.
i am due in hospital tomorrow to be drained, however im not very bloated, i feel as normal as i always do so i hope they do another CT scan to see the difference to Friday.
when did you find out?
You sound like an absolute warrior! I am absolutely petrified. I need to find some inner strength from somewhere.
I am hoping after tomorrows appointment and Wednesdays gynae appointment I will feel a little more relaxed about things, I think it’s the fear of the unknown
good luck for your results x
I am sure you will feel more in control once you have seen tomorrow and Wednesday take one day at a time take care of you xx
Hi Colliewobles, I just thought I’d share my journey with you. I was diagnosed in early February this year and until very late December 2023 I hadn’t had any symptoms apart from loss of appetite which I put down to age, I was a healthy, active 65 year old.
In late December I started having some pain which I thought was my stomach but I ignored it for a couple of weeks until I woke one morning and felt as if I had a prolapsed womb. Immediately went to GP who performed an internal exam and made an emergency appointment with the gynaecologist. Had a CT scan, PET scan and biopsy. By this time I became so bloated I looked 7 months pregnant. Early February diagnosed with stage 4b ovarian cancer which had spread under my arm, in my neck and some on my chest (not lung) my CA125 was 3800 .
I started chemo late February and I had 5 sessions, stopped in July to prepare for debulking surgery which was carried out in August. They removed all cancer during the surgery and my CA125 was 60.
I started chemo again mid September but this time I’m struggling with my blood platelets and electrolytes which do not recover enough each week to have chemo so since mid September I’ve only managed 3 successful sessions which I am very concerned about. Due for review with oncologist next week so hopefully there is another plan.
It’s very scary when you read people’s stories on this forum how many of us had no symptoms at all until it was way too late. I was ignorant of ovarian cancer and had I been asked about it I would have answered I’m ok I have regular smear tests! I don’t think ovarian cancer is spoken about often enough and it’s so very difficult when the symptoms do not affect everybody or you just don’t have them.
I do hope you get answers soon and begin treatment, I felt much calmer when I started chemo you feel more in control of the situation.
Take care.
hi all
had a crap day yesterday with spiralling out of control anxiety but today is a good day
I had reiki and I have decided I am strong enough to beat this crap
seeing oncologist tomorrow looks like I’ll be having 6 rounds of chemo and then see if it shrinks enough for surgery
sending love to all of you on this journey together x
