Hi, did post on here many months ago when I was first diagnosed. I have high grade serious papillary carcinoma of primary peritoneum/ovary, stage 3c/4. Due to the spread it's incurable but I've got my head round it. Recently had a CT scan after 3 chemo rounds, all positive. Tumour markers down from 840 to 135. Oncologist was pleased with results which certainly put me at ease.
My reason for posting is to ask about fatigue. With my first 3 chemos I slept a lot of around 3/4 days then bounced back fairly quickly. I had my fourth round 10 days ago and I'm still so tired all the time. Is this normal? I've barely left the house in those 10 days either.
Hi Picklewigs
I am glad that your oncologist is pleased with the results of your recent CT.
I did 4 cycles of paclitaxel and carboplatin chemo in May/Aug 2022.
I did experience fatigue, similar to yours. So the first cycles were not too bad and it was mainly the first week. By the second I started to pick up and then started to want to do things and felt a lot better in the third week.
I also noticed that the effects of the chemo and the fatigue did accumulate and I had far more fatigue in the last cycle. I think it is because it just builds up and although you recover a bit with each cycle, you never quite get back to what you were so each cycle you start at a bit of a lower point. They will be monitoring your bloods and with me they did pick up on low haemoglobin (needing a transfusion) and low magnesium (needing supplements) so it may be worth asking if there is anything showing in your bloods that is adding to the fatigue.
Do also give your Cancer Helpline a call and get some reassurance. Mine were great and never minded me calling up.

Thanks. I've heard the build up can make you more tired. I've got another 2 chemos to go, I'm also on paclitaxel and carboplatin, I've been ok with it on the whole. I'll listen to my body as I've been doing. I did tell my oncologist and did have a blood test while up the hospital. Suppose I'll hear if there's a problem.
I'm usually active after a few days so it's been hard this time.
Hi Picklewigs,
With me was exactly like that..first 4 cycles kind of okay, had my energy back quite quickly. 5th and then 6th cycle I felt more the build up, felt more tired, specially with the 6th cycle, took me longer to recover my energy levels and experienced brain fog also. In my case I can say that about a month after my last cycle, energy and brain wise felt pretty normal considering everything.
Stay strong
