Hi has anyone had a bone density scan during treatment? I have one on Thursday and feeling a bit worried about it due to claustrophobia thanks
Hi Teresa , I’ve not had bone density scan as part of treatment for ovarian cancer, I do have osteoporosis so have Dexa bone density scans. The scanner that I’m use to is not enclosed, it’s open. I have been asked to lie down on the bed and the scanner arm goes back and forth. It takes about 5 minutes at the most. Hope it goes well for you. X
really sorry to hear about your fractures . The scan is quite quick , mine takes about 5 to 10 minutes at most. I’m usually asked to take jewellery off and wear a hospital gown. The scanner arm measured density at my ankles and hips. The results usually come about a week or so later, mine goes to the GP. Good luck.
