I had a call from my GP saying my test results had come back, but my CA125 was a little high at 58, although he told me not to worry too much he also clearly pointed out that this was a marker for ovarian cancer and i need an emergency ultrasound. should i be very aware that i could in fact have cancer or am i worrying myself silly for nothing.

Google is a great research tool but can also scare the life out of you. xx

  • Hi  and welcome to the group.

I can understand your concern, as your gp has mentioned ovarian cancer, but the CA125 can be raised for several reasons, not necessarily cancer.

Google is really not your friend when you are looking for information as it cannot diagnose you, but will increase your anxiety levels! I think all you can do is try to sit tight and wait for your ultrasound. Try not to focus on the word “emergency” as your doctor is just making sure you can be seen quicker on the basis of your raised test results.

I hope your ultrasound doesn’t show anything serious and that you’ll come back and let us know how you get on. My philosophy is to try not to worry until you have something to worry about, and at the moment you’re in that horrible situation of not having all the facts you need.

    Sarah xx

  • Raised CA125 can be caused by other things too as mentioned in the other comment, I hope all goes well - can't imagine how frightening it must be for you. Sending positive thoughts xx

  • How did it go on the tests etc

  • Ive not had them yet, my GP receptionist informed me that emergency could mean up to 6 months. x
