I'm about to start 6 cycles of carboplatin snd calyx and wondered if anyone has had the same chemo resume lately and what the side effects have been. First one on the 23rd December, not the bet day to start but tops off a shocking year!
I've recently had an operation for a small recurrence which thankfully hadn't spread.
Hi
I don't have any experience with carboplatin and calyx but I noticed that your post hadn't had any responses yet. By replying to you it will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussions list where hopefully it'll be seen by someone with the right experience.
I have found this information for you which does list the side effects that you might experience. However, remember that some people might get lots of side effects while others hardly get any and your team will be able to help you if you do get side effects.
While you're waiting for replies if you type 'carboplatin and calyx' into the search facility in this group it brings up quite a few previous posts on this topic. You could have a read through those and respond to any of the more recent ones if you feel the poster can help you further.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi I'm on that chemo, 5th dose on Monday, the side effects I get, usual horrible taste in mouth. Nauseated, dry skin, fatigue and problems going to toilet, after 7 days it gets better, I got mouthwash of doctors to help with sore mouth and I moisturize well especially hands and feet. I eat oranges, ice cream or lemon sweets to help with rotten taste in mouth. Goodluck
Thank you for your reply, useful to know how you feel after treatment. This will be my forth time having chemo. The first time was in 1998 when I had breast cancer, then 2017 when I had my first ovarian operation then 2019 when I had breast cancer again but in the other breast. I found out in 2017 that I was BRACA positive which explains all the cancers. Wish I'd known sooner and maybe I could have done something about it.
At least you are nearly done, good luck on Monday
Karen
