    Hi Daphnie,
I have been peg fed for over a year now,so I know how your husband must be feeling.Have you tried thinks like custards, yogurts, soups etc.If they are to thick you can add full cream milk to water them down abit, and in that way he gets the goodness as well.If I have coffee or anything like that then I always have full cream milk so that it gives you goodness and helps with the weight to.If you read my profile it may prove helpful. So if I can be any more help dont hesitate to ask.

My father had the same, he was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma (I hope I have spelt it correctly), he had two-thirds of his tongue removed and radiotherapy.  This was over six years ago now.  He still has regular check ups with his consultant for precaution.

Whilst my father was awaiting the surgery and even post surgery, he had the drinks call Fresubin and also I used to buy him Build Up (which is now called Meritene), this really helped to build up his strength and immunity.  This surgery and follow on treatment is so invasive and can really knock you for six but taking these drinks helped to restore the vitamins that his body needed.

He still can tire easily now but considering what he went through he has done amazingly well.

I hope that this gives some hope and positivity to those who are recently diagnosed or receiving treatment.

I know having the feeding tube (peg) will feel unpleasant now but hopefully it wont be forever, please make sure you take the necessary rest and do the physio exercises given to retrain the tongue and mouth to work so that you can resume eating without a peg.

Much love, hope and best wishes to you all.

    Hi

In October of last year I was diagnosed with Tongue Base Cancer which had spread to a couple of lymph nodes on right hand side of neck. I had a 6 week course of Radiotherapy and Chemo. The effects will be different for each person.  I can share my experiences if you would like to know more. Please just let me know by reply. I wish you every success with your treatment, it can be tough at times, but the treatment can be very effective.

    Thanks

    Phil
