Last year on this day, I woke up to the worst news of my life. I lost my dad to lymphoma, and I did not even get the chance to say goodbye as I reside in the UK, while he lived in Gaza Strip (which is under blockade since 2007).
To date, I am still grieving his loss.
My dad fell ill two weeks prior to his death. Those two weeks we spent, his family, trying helplessly to get him the best medical care, and knocking on all doors to get him the chemotherapy drugs he needed desperately. But we didn't stand a chance.
Today, with COVID19 spreading across the world, I stay home. I know I am privileged that I live in the UK, where no one has to worry about having access to the best medical treatment there is, or whether it can be afforded. It is a given, thanks to the NHS.
As my dad always showed me, please take a moment and think of the less privileged around the world who don't have access to medical care, or don't have the option to stay at home cause it is a choice between taking the risk of falling ill or starving.
This is the time to give back. Please volunteer or donate to a charity of your choosing and help others in your community, and around the world.
In memory of a great man. A man with a heart of gold, who made the world a better place.

Hi again , I remember you and your dad well and I can not believe that a year has gone.
It was a very challenging situation for the family and if only.......
Yes, we are very fortunate in the UK and even with the virus we are still looked after well.
((hugs)) from a safe distance.
I remember you too, You were very helpful answering my questions. I still can't believe that he is gone.
It broke my heart hearing stories from around the world of families who are starving and risking their lives to make a living. Just need to follow in his footsteps and do some good in his name.
I also remember your dad , and the horrible time you went through trying to get help for him , we are now in a global horrible time and on be thing that will help us get through it (apart from becoming a hermit yet again) is the support offered by online community such as this one, so a huge thank you to the highlander for all the support, help and compassion he shows towards every poster,
