I've been reading this forum for weeks unsure whether or not to post my story but Im starting to worry and I really don't want to search Google. I'm a 27 year old female ex smoker quit last year due to falling pregnant. So I've had a painless swollen lymph node below my jaw for about a year and a half didn't really think anything of it for the past 2 years I've been suffering from my right ear blocking that last for weeks then pops and all is well but this time round it started leaking fluid so decided to go to the doctors was prescribed 3 different types of antibiotics none helped at all so was then given antibiotic ear drops they seems to clear the discharge but my ear still feels slightly blocked and I'm suffering tinnitus in the ear. I've now noticed the lymph node has gotten bigger no pain and obviously hasn't went away I have another one on the same side of neck but just above the collarbone and 3 more on the left side. I've also been getting facial numbness and tingling on the right side of my face. This has been ongoing for 8 weeks since my first doctors appointment about the ear discharge. I've noticed I have 3 swollen lymph nodes on my groin I've lost a lot of weight but put it down to having my baby 6 months ago and just assumed it was baby weight I was losing I have no appetite and don't feel hungry. I'm exhausted all the time but I put it down to having 2 kids but both my kids sleep all night so I'm getting my full 8 hours I could literally sleep all day if I had the chance I've never been this tired. Now the bottom of my back is really sore and I feel asif I'm getting nerve pain around my vulva, thighs and buttocks. I've started getting cramps that feel like period cramps in my abdomen near the bottom. My left knee has started flaring up and becoming painful for no reason every 3 weeks or so started about 4 months ago and the pain travels down my calf and up my thigh. I get really hot at night not to the point I'm soaking but I do seem to sweat a lot more than usual. The bone in my left arm starts to ache every now and again it's hard to explain the pain it's like cramping but I can feel it in my bone. I've had my bloods taken results should be back possibly Tuesday and I've been referred to ENT just waiting on my appointment coming through. I don't know who to talk to about this my partner thinks I'm being silly and over reacting but I'm just really worried its cancer. My family aren't very supportive either their not exactly the most supportive. Am I over reacting? has anyone else suffered similar symptoms and it being cancer or something else that's serious. I know no one can say it's definetly cancer I just need some advice I have 2 kids and I'm scared.
Thanks for listening.

Ps. Had a follow up appointment after my antibiotics and there's nothing wrong
Hi Laura
So sorry to hear that you are still riding this diagnosis rollercoaster and you are not making much headway in getting answers.
You do need answers, answers that tell you what is going on in your body. Is it a cancer? or is it something else?....... at its basic level it is a simple question.
We do have a few folks on the Community who have been where you are at the moment and moved forward into the diagnosis part and even getting past the initial hurdle of being referred to Heamatology, it still takes so long to get to the bottom line in all this.
What to do?........ First you need to call the ENT department and check that you are actually on the list and that your appointment has not fallen through the NHS cracks. If you are on the list you kindly ask if they would try and fit you into any cancellations.
If ENT have no record you will have to go back and see the GP who referred you in the first place.
At it’s basic level your GPs do need to answer simple question- what is going on?
In my case my consultant had a good idea what type of blood cancer I had but it still took 12 months of investigations including 6 biopsies and a few CT scans to nail it........ but over these long 12 months my condition did not develop much that the time did not make a lot of difference.
Someone on the Community likened this time to a rock being lobbed into a lake and you have to ride out the many ripples - stress, work, treatments, finances, anger, worry etc...
You do need to try and turn the noise down in your head as this will make you even more sick as your body does react very badly to stress.
Keep pushing the doors and you will open then ((hugs))
Hi highlander.
So I kept myself busy taking my mind off everything up until last Tuesday... I had a follow up blood testlast Friday to check my bone marrow and things that didn't get checked in my last blood on the Tuesday went in and apparently I have folate deficiency anemia and iron deficiency anemia sent on my way with a prescription for iron tablets and folic acid to return in 8 weeks to get them checked again I'm not happy about this at all. Does this sound concerning to anyone? I'm pretty bloody concerned as I said on op I had a baby now 9 months ago I was taking folic acid everyday all my blood results were fine should that not raise alarm bells? I'm frustrated that my doctor is just brushing me off again what can I do to be referred? I told him I was worried about cancer again he brought up my age and its highly unlikely to be cancer I tried pushing but he said he's not worried enough to refer me. Now I'm not saying I have it but at which point are they gonna look into all these symptoms?

Hi Laura, sorry for not getting back to you last night but it’s been a rather manic weekend.
No simple answer to you getting the iron tablets and folic acid. This can be for so many reasons and it would be wrong for me to speculate.
Over my years (64) I have been given iron and folic acid for non cancer health issues.
The bodies we have to live in are very complicated things and it only takes experts to work through the list of tests and treatments eliminating each item on the list.
How are you getting on with getting your ENT appointment?
We do have our ‘Ask an Expert’ section where you can post questions to our mostly Volunteer Experts but please allow 2 working days to get a reply.
((hugs))
Laura,
It might be nothing and you gp probably doesn't know what to do with all these 'symptoms'. Have you lost any weight without trying the last few months?
If you really want tests done ask to be referred to a medical day unit (mdu) if your hospital has one. They do lots of test and various consultants look at them. My gp really thought i was perfectly healthy but also knew me well enough that i wouldn't leave without be taken serious.
Thanks for getting back to me.
Still not heard anything I called the ent department to ask if they had received my referral which they had. They said people are waiting between 16 and 20 weeks just for the appointment letter as they are super busy. I did ask to be put on list to be called if a cancellation comes up. Plus when I seen my doctor on Thursday he said he'd look into it for me but not heard anything since the waiting process is the worst.
I decided to let my hair down a couple of weeks ago and go out for a few drinks with friends but for some reason alcohol is hurting my arm literally after my 1st sip my arm felt dead asif someone had punched it, it was so strange lasted about 20 mins and then went away. Thought it was a one off then on Saturday me and my partner went out for a meal I ordered a pink gin and lemonade and the same thing happened again after my 1st sip. I dunno if this is related or not my partner thought it was strange also. Its similar to the bone pain in my arm I get but more sore it's hard to describe.
Im so frustrated, sore, tired and just want answers so I can get better with whatever is wrong with me. Ive also started to get really breathless I have to stop to catch my breath when I go anywhere. Even going upstairs I stop at the top to catch my breath. I've always been quite fit up until now. I dunno if that's related to my iron or folate deficiency though.

Hi Laura,
Please just walk into the gp surgery and demand an appoinent the same day even if they don't have any left. I had an emergency appointment at the end of that day. I felt bad as i felt quite ok that day but became very unstable on on my feet. I used to crawl on the stairs to get there. It is normal to have lost 5 kg with Lymphoma. I didnt check off alot of symptoms but my consultant was worried about my weight loss. Does only your arm hurt or also your throat or chest when drinking alcohol? Please tell the gp that you lost this much weight too! And cry if you have too. I did and refused to go. It did help because he called the mdu and got me referred which you can then go to the same day. Please please insist and don't take a no for an answer.
I was 33 by the way. The lymphoma i had was mosg common between 25 years and 40 years. It was pretty rare though.
And have they checked your lungs because you are breathless? Mine were all ok said my gp but that wasnt causing the breathlessness. Are you dizzy? Not the ligtheaded kind.
Hi ducthie.
Thank you for replying the pain starts at the top of my shoulder between my shoulder and neck and radiates down my arm its horrible. Gonna phone for an appointment tomorrow I don't care who with I'm so fed up. I don't get a sore throat when drinking alcohol but I do have a feeling in my throat as if something is lodged I feel it when I swallow. I have been suffering really bad with neck pain recently at the back of my neck and base of my skull and there is a hard non move able lump slightly to left which feels like the pain is radiating from.
My family and partner are so unsupportive which is frustrating because I have no one to talk to and you can tell they think I'm being a hypochondriac. When I received my anemia diagnosis my partner said "see I told u it wasn't cancer now you can stop worrying and overthinking" which I've tried to do but all these symptoms are seriously worrying me I have 2 young kids to think about so I'm not gonna ignore it.
Hopefully I come back with good news tomorrow and hopefully finally be referred but I honestly don't think I will be I've lost trust in my doctors.

No they've not checked my lungs said it could be the anemia causing it. No not dizzy at all only if I stand too fast. Ohh also I've been getting pain below my left rib going into my abdomen it sort of feels like I've been winded it comes and goes.
