Hi all

I have smzl an allergic to rituximab and so am unable to have any treatment that includes it.  Was recently on zanubrutinib but it's caused so much bruising and also anemia so just been taken off that.

My consultant is now sending me for Bendamustine which i understand is twice a week for 3 weeks and a week off.

Was just wondering if anyone else has had this and how  you got on with it.

Thanks

  • Hi  ….. not a drug I have had but there have been a few group members have had Bendamustine so let’s see them pick up on your post.

You can also put Bendamustine into the search tool Mag near the top where you can find the older posts.

  • I received three infusions of Bendamustine - but it was in combination with Etoposide and Carboplatin. What I can say is that in just two infusions, it completely eradicated two T-cell lymphomas at stage IV, and reduced the marrow cancer MDS from 23% to 2.6%. My haematologist called it a miracle.

One cancer (PTCL-NOS) 3 times. Two other cancers: Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma 2 times, and 20q deletion MyeloDysplastic Syndrome) were chemo refractory. All three cancers simultaneously in 2015. Stage IV twice + MDS @ 23% of marrow. 12/22 diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Thus far, 14+ years, 20 drugs, 4 clinical trials, Total Body Irradiation, 1,000+ years of background radiation from scans. 7th remission so far. Haploidentical stem cell transplant, acute > chronic Graft-versus-Host-disease. Currently receiving my 7th GvHD regimen.

  • Thanks. This helps a lot. You sound as though you've  been through a lot.

  • It is all a blur at this point! Those three drugs - in an off label and experimental regimen, were the 16th, 17th and 18th drugs I had received. I am now up to 21, for those who may fear the word "chemotherapy."

There is always hope. Never give up.
