R-CHOP

Hi, I have had four rounds of R-CHOP for transformative high grade lymphoma DBCL in the sternum area.  This follows radiotherapy in March when it was low grade. ( I previously had radiotherapy in 2019 and 2021 for low grade in neck area.)

I have struggled with the treatment, mostly stomach issues. I had 3 lots of a antiibiotics for a week  when I got a stomach infection after round 3.

They subsequently reduced the meds for round 4 to  - prednisolone 80mg a day, doxorubicin 50% and cyclophosphamide 75%

I am due a PET scan  before cycle 5

I am  very concerned about the long-term effects.  I am 77 yrs old and weigh 56k. (I was fit before my cancer journey started) I understand I need rounds 5 and 6 for the best chance of it not returning.

I am just wondering if anyone out there has had further reductions to R-CHOP in the later rounds and still had a successful outcome.

  • Hi again  there have been folks in this group and more specifically on Lymphoma Actions……..various Support Platforms who have had their R-CHOP reduced/altered and went on to get the desired results…… some were even in their late 70s and early 80s.

  • Many thanks, fingers crossed they can find lowest effective dose.

  • Barb….. this happens a lot so they will have a very good idea as to how far to pull back.

I had the big brother of R-CHOP….. R-EPOCH…… it was full on (over 750hrs) and in my case there was no way that they could pull back on the dosage…. as this was being used to open the door for me to go on and have an Allogeneic (donor) Stem Cell Transplant.

Lets look for a good result for you ((hugs))
