Hello, I'm new on this forum, I joined the lung cancer forum previously not realising there was one for Neuroendocrine cancer.

I was diagnosed in November 2021 with a Neuroendocrine cancer of the lung but have so far had no treatment. I had an Octreotide scan last Wednesday and am waiting for the results but I am terrified of what they might find. I am worried that my cancer may have spread elsewhere.

I had never heard of this type of cancer before and do not know anyone who has ever had any experience of it. is there anyone on here who has had a similar experience?

Thank you for reading

  • Hi

I had a different type of cancer but noticed that you hadn't had any replies to your post yet.

I typed 'lung net' into the search bar in this group and found quite a few previous posts which mention this type. You could have a look at them if you click here and respond to any of the posters if you think they can help further.

Wishing you all the best with your scan results.

  • I have a Neuroendocrine tumour which has presented itself in the lung. I was diagnosed in January 2022. I have had several scans along the way. I have had two chemo sessions and the third is next week. Has your consultant given you a treatment plan?

  • Hi Orla

I'm so sorry that you too have Neoroendocrine cancer of the lung too but glad to hear that you have started your treatment and hope it is going well for you.

I finally have a treatment plan which is monthly injections of Octreotide. I just had my second one on Friday. I had some after effects with the first one but so far I feel OK this time.

It is such a long drawn out process isn't it but from what you have said, it looks as though your consultant was on the ball in getting your treatment started much earlier than mine.

I really hope all goes well for you in the coming months and years x

  • If you are not having any chemo presumably your tumour is not very big? They can be slow growing like mine. Glad you got a plan. I think I have the injections after the chemo. Keep positive PunchThumbsup
