I have pancreatic/ liver  neuroendocrine cancer or at least I did before my whipple procedure. I guess that is the problem really. Having had the operation the surgeons told me that they got all the cancer. I recently had my follow up CT scan about 4 weeks ago and have my appointment with the specialist tomorrow and am completely overwhelmed with fear as to what the doctor is going to tell me. I don’t feel I am recovering very well from the operation and still have a very distinct lack of energy having had the operation back in October 2025. Not sure if anyone else has these feelings but I never seem to get it out of my head. Before the cancer I was working 16 hours a day and very active and strong and now I feel useless and drained all the time. I still haven’t been able to return to work and I find it’s the stress and strain of all that tying me down.

  • Hi

Welcome to the group. I am one of the MacMillan community champions. I haven’t had this experience but didn’t want your post to remain unanswered. I am sorry you are finding it difficult to recover from Whipple surgery. I am aware it’s a huge operation and don’t find it surprising that it takes a long time to recover both physically and mentally. I think anyone who has had any form of cancer treatment understands the overwhelming dread involved in waiting for scan results. Given your post was written a couple of days ago, I think you will by now have had your follow up appointment. Do let us know how that went. Hopefully others who have had a similar diagnosis or Whipple surgery will read your post and be able to help.
