My partner was diagnosed with MM 3 weeks ago, he started chemo injections very quickly and after his second injection his bloods were very low in potatssium so was rushed back to hospital and chemo stopped. While on chemo he had to take steroids that sent him very confussed. He had a plasma exchange on Sunday. His ankles are very swollen and weeping. Has anyone else had the same experience?
Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that your partner has recently been diagnosed with MM and I know what a difficult time this will be for you both.
I'm not a member of this group but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it will be seen more easily.
I typed 'low potassium' into the search bar at the top of the screen to see if there were any previous posts on this topic but drew a blank I'm afraid. This doesn't mean that no one else has experienced this just that they haven't posted about it.
You could post your question in the ask a nurse section of the online community and one of the specialist nurses will reply within 3 working days. While they won't be able to tell you specifically why your partner has experienced this, as they don't have access to his medical records, they should be able to tell you why this might have happened. If this is something that you'd like to do clicking on the link I've created will take you there.
While you're waiting for replies it would be great if you could pop something about your partner's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
