Hi all.
just an update. First visit for chemo. Marathon of a day
6.5 hours in hospital. Great nurse. And a few other engaging patients. Comfy chairs. All injections easy.
glad I took an I pad. And books. A few snacks
nursing staff busy. But also engaging. I have a profound hearing loss. So with. Hearing aids and. Masks on. Not easy to clear communication. But my nurse was patient and understanding
no major side effects yet even with the sack of drugs for consumption at home. I have great home support. That’s all folks. Early days I know. A long road starts with the first steps
Sounds very positive and good that you felt it to be a positive step in the right direction - let the road ahead be smooth……
I always have a little giggle to myself when someone say that they a long day in hospital….. my main chemo lasted 120hrs so I was in hospital 6 days and 5 nights…..
Wow, thats a marathon Mike were you expecting it to be that long ? one good bit of extra support from the hospital for me, is they have given me a 6 month free parking permit, as i will be attending 2 days per weeks for 6 months, that saves me a lot of money on parking fees hope you did not have to pay for 6 days !!
Yes it was made clear at the very start so was well prepared for the start….. all 6 cycles were the same.
We don’t have parking charges so not a problem there.
It was the same when I went down to Glasgow for my 2 Stem Cell Transplants (SCT)…… I was in the unit for 28 days/nights for the first SCT then 29 for my second….. car park was thankfully free and my wife even had a free room across for the ward when she was down with me.
More personal points if this is Ok i lived in Scotland for a few years, Montrose Area, i worked for a Scottish company near Stonehaven, you would have probably passed it many times to Glasgow, miss the " Arbroath Smokies got a good friend in a family Bakery up in Forres, visited him many times have a good day Mike, appreciate the responses all of them
