Does anyone have any experience or words of wisdom when faced with choice of treatment for newly diagnosed MM, not suitable for SCT. Choice is between continuous Lenalidamide with Dex or VCD cycles of fixed duration. I can’t really get an answer re. what is best, although I felt Haemotologist was more pushing LD but my mum spoke to Haemotology specialist nurse and mum felt she was pushing VCD. Mums in a good position in that her renal function makes her a candidate for LD, but choices are so difficult! I’ve been looking at research which seems to point to LD being better for overall survival. Any ideas?
Hi Beebobs,
I am really sorry to read about the situation you are having to face. I sometimes think that having a choice makes it more difficult than not. I don’t have experience of this specific situation but I have had to make several choices about treatment options in the past and my biggest advice would be to spend time with the medical team and get them to explain their thinking as to what their preferred route is. Obtain a second opinion if you think it would be helpful. Take your time to make the decision and then once you have, try not to look back with any regret but just go forward as best you can.
I hope this helps in some small way and hopefully someone with some more specific information will be along soon to help.
Greg
