It is with the heaviest of hearts that I write this, my amazing husband lost his fight to the dreadful disease that is Mesothelioma last Friday - he was diagnosed in the 9 June 2023 & passed on 31 January 2025. He fought so hard he had immunotherapy but this was stopped after 5 sessions, chemotherapy only tolerated 3 sessions & got severe kidney injury, he then commenced on a Phase 1 Clinical Trial on 2 December 2024, sadly things progressed very quickly whilst he was on the trial.
The problem I have now is with the Coroner’s they have set an inquest date for 8 April - what they haven’t yet done is open & adjourn the case - I have been told they will ‘probably’ do this next week. In the meantime we cannot make any funeral arrangements at all.
I just wondered if this has happened anywhere else - we are in the Greater Manchester area. All I want to do is grieve & arrange a funeral for my husband who worked so hard all his life but sadly had the misfortune to work with asbestos as a 17 year old apprentice. Xx
I am so very sorry for your husbands passing. I recall having some earlier interactions with you around last Christmas. I lost my 73 year old beloved father on 4 May last month also. He was diagnosed with mesothelioma ( pleural) on 20 June 2024. To think he lived just 10 months is crushing. Like your husband he was just a 17 year old apprentice . He was winding the ship motors and re-coiling them at Liverpool docks. He was first given immunotherapy he had 3 sessions then a scan showed progression in disease and so it wasn’t working and was stopped. December 2024 he had 2 cycles of chemo but he couldn’t stand the side effects made him too ill. His final 2 days in hospice he developed acute kidney failure and spent 44 hours in an unconscious sleep that he never woke up from. I am so angry like so many family of this asbestos without this lethal substance our loved ones would still be here. Sending love x
