Hello, my dad got diagnosed with Mesothelioma in September and it’s been an awful time since! He’s just started immunotherapy but after one treatment noticed inflammation in his liver so had to postpone treatment and give him steroids for that.

He’s recently had a drain fitted to him to drain the fluid from his lung, do you know if he can fly with this drain?

He’s really struggling mentally with what’s happening and has a place on Cyprus that he would like to visit but he thinks he’s never going to be able to go there again.

we want to be able to give him as much positivity as we can!

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I have no experience with flying with a drain, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

I can understand your dad wanting to be able to go to his holiday home in Cyprus again and, if you don't get any replies from the other members of the group, then he should get a definitive answer from his CNS (cancer nurse specialist).

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

I do hope that he go to Cyprus again.
