Hi all,
I really need some advice, as we have a meeting tomorrow in Guy’s about my husband’s treatment.
My husband is at the three month point of immunotherapy. His oncologist wants to change his treatment to chemo. She’s based this on comparison of two scans, one done 2 days ago at Kings and another done 2 weeks ago at Guys.
Can we ask for a second opinion on this scan comparison?
I’m worried about chemo as I understand that it’s only effective for as long as it’s administered. I understand that the cancer may slow down but it will rapidly grow when chemo stops. is my thinking correct?
I feel like she is writing my husband off.
Also our ongoing claim against my husband’s employers is likely to settle shortly with an agreement that the defendant pays the cost of private treatment in the future. What kind of private treatment could be considered?
Thanks, Gwen
Hi Gwen/GwendyMc
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
Unfortunately the replies will come too late to give you information ahead of your husband's meeting with his oncologist but hopefully others in the group will be able to pop on to share their experiences of asking for a second opinion and using private treatment in future.
I hope the meeting went okay
