Hi all…
Hoping for some guidance and advice. My partner is Australian and we currently live with our young daughter in the North East of England. My father in law has been diagnosed with Mesothelioma and is starting immunotherapy on Thursday. He seems to have been caught early as is only in one lung. My husband is trying to decide if he should try to get to Oz now, but with covid and quarantine it’s sooooo difficult. His mum and dad are being so strong and positive but don’t want to ask any questions about time frames etc and we are a little unsure of what to expect. His dad seems so well the moment, is still fit and in work. I asked my mother in law what the aim of the treatment is and she said they don’t know as they don’t want to ask and his dad keeps telling us he will be cured. I completely understand the need to be positive but it’s so hard for us to make an informed decision about getting to Oz, the cost of a flight (if we can get one) and the quarantine is so much and it’s all so heartbreaking that we can’t easily be there right now. Thanks for listening, x
Hi
My Dad has just been diagnosed with mesothelioma to and is starting immunotherapy soon. We have been told mesothelioma isn’t curable, treatment can lengthen life expectancy. It is an aggressive cancer, and everyone’s prognosis is different as I think that it depends how quickly it grows? There are some positive stories of how treatment has halted the grow of it.
I am no expert and am coming to terms with the diagnosis that my Dad received. Maybe you could get in touch with your father in laws consultant and see if they will provide you with more information?
Thanks so much for your reply. It’s so tough being so far away. We had thought about getting in touch with his doctor so I’ll maybe see if I need permission for this. My father in law is fit and active so I’m hoping he can fight this as best he can so we can all get to Australia when we are able too x
Such an inspiring story, you have been through so much and still fighting! My husband has decided to go to Australia, I’m devastated me and my daughter can’t go too. It’s the not knowing how much time we have but I feel then knowing their son is going home will give his dad a huge boost too. I’m praying covid calms down soon so we can all plan a trip to Australia
x
