Epithelioid mesothelioma

Hi, Dont leave it there, ask for a meeting re what do we do next an explanation etc. obviously if immunotherapy isn't working you have to look at other options like Chemo. Ref her saying looked like it hadn’t spread she is not a radiographer who are more qualified to analyse  a CT. So go back to them first, as I say there is also chemo. Ultimately and early days yet you are legally entitled to a second opinion on the NHS. By the way I have been through almost three yesrs of this as a sufferer. Good luck.

I understand when something spreads they are dubious about different treatments but after hearing the phone call I was both shocked and disappointed that she’d basically just left it like ‘Sorry there’s nothing else we can do’ Can you tell me please how I would go about getting a 2nd opinion? Am I right in saying this type is the slowest growing Mesothelioma? Sorry for all the questions. I am sorry to hear you are also going through this.

She should have phrased it differently saying she couldn’t see anything but have to wait for the official results,I think you wouldn't have been so shocked. I have been through the cant do anymore ! Mine was due to liver problems and I accepted it and with no more treatment ( no chemo due to liver problems) I  accepted my fate but its a year later and still here.. ref a referral, well I am going through it myself as I only recently found out. Basically you ask your current people for that referal they must do it. If they have discharged you to your GP then you ask them. Now of course you really want to find who you want referring to, in my case Leicester MDT. MDT is the team that looks at your case. So geographically see who is convenient and of course with a mesothelioma specialist. ( is your current one Meso specialist or just general ? ). Before all this I would still go back and ask for a full explanation why they say nothing else they can do? Chemo ? I also find doing it with a phone call a bit weird, I would have expected that and a discussion.

See my other longer reply, I forgot to confirm that it is the slowest. Have you not been given booklets etc ? Macmillan are a great help, there should be a macmillan team at your hospital, again surprised they didn't contact you ? Have you put in a claim against where you got the asbestos from ? Have you claimed your weekly benefits from the govt ? Blue badge ?. Sorry, got carried away, Paul
