Evening.

I’m Jennie and I’m 44yrs old. I’m single and have 3 girls (20, 13 &11).

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2021 and had a double mastectomy (DMX)  in Jan 2022.

i then had a cancerous mole removed in Nov 2022 and thought that was the end of my cancers.

Fast forward to now. I had some surgery early Feb, to remove some scar tissue from the DMX and a lymph node popped up on my collarbone after and didn’t go down. After a scan and biopsy, I was told it was cancer cells. A PET scan showed a lump in my lymph node. The Breast Surgeon asked for a CT scan before sending me to Oncology. The CT scan found 4 more tumours in various lymph nodes in my body. All under 1cm and all in a place that cannot easily be biopsied/removed.

My Oncologist has said if left untreated, he’d give me 6-9mths. Which is devastating. And obviously not an option!!
I’m going to be starting immunotherapy very soon, but that comes with its own challenges, thanks to my Crohn’s disease. The immunotherapy could make my body attack my Crohn's, put me in a catastrophic flare and potentially rupture my bowel.
I’m determined to fight this, but I’m so scared. I’m trying to be brave and strong for everyone, but I don’t want to die and I can’t get that thought out of my head. I spend every night alone in my bed crying.

Sorry for the long ramble, but I thought if anyone knows how I’m feeling, it’s going to be you guys xx

  • Hi Jennie,

sorry to read this about yourself.

I know how you are feeling and how anxious you are. I had melanoma ten years ago which was a low stage of 1b . This was removed and I had regular check ups with no issues for 6 years. I was then discharged from my check up appointments and life went on.

I found a lump on my collarbone lymph node right side a few weeks ago. I have had a ct scan which showed a module of 10mm on my right side of abdomen.  I am awaiting the biopsy results of  the enlarged collarbone lymph nodes but the consultant has been honest and said the probability is highly metastatic melanoma.  This would mean stage 4.

there is no treatment plan in place as yet. I am holding on to the positivity of the good things I have read regarding immunotherapy treatment . I hope you have read good things regarding immunotherapy too.

youve had so much going on these past years but keep fighting the way you have been . Although sometimes you don’t feel strong you surely must be to get through this.

wishing you the very best x
