Just diagnosed with 1b Melanoma

Thank you , I think it makes sense to have the SLNB … although nervous of the outcome of course … I hope your well

It's natural to be worried about a possible positive SLNB, but I felt I'd rather know early than find out years later and, maybe, too late for treatment.

Hi, I have stage 2 melanoma on my forehead, diagnosed after the first excision. I opted to have lymph node biopsy because I couldnt live with not knowing. I've had my wider excision and lymph node biopsy this week. The trace went to  one lymph which was removed. I have great faith in the plastic surgeons and I'm ready to move forward with whatever is recommended next. Best wishes for your consultation

I had mole on chin 2.3 and diagnosed melanoma in April but said removed all with clear margins but wanted to perform wider excision and SN removal the trace only showed 1 node so like others that’s an option I chose to go with it quite a large scar and flap on chin and scar from chin to ear for lymph node  Surgeon was amazing scars healed brilliantly and being a women they provided me with camouflage lesson in make up to cover and it’s incredible 

Took 5 weeks for results to come back all clear I am glad I had both procedures done makes me a little more settled it’s a crafty cancer though so have fingers crossed but will receive check ups for 5 years and they said any worries contact them straight away I have been so impressed with hospital in my area they have been quite amazing also I have had no pain at all with the procedure

Thank you so much for your reply … sounds like you had an amazing team looking after you .. my lymph nodes would be under my armpit … so not to worried about scaring there . 
Let’s see how I go with my initial appointment and then go from there … but that awful C Word really does knock you sick  for sure … stay well :) 

Hi, I had a small malignant melanoma removed and am now awaiting notification of further treatment in form of WLE and SLNB.  I had a 0.8 thickness but 2 mitoses(?) which means it is actively dividing.  It was on my shin/ankle so very little skin there so will need skin graft and won't be able to walk for a while in case I damage the graft, also lymph nodes will be behind my knee and in my groin. I live alone with my dog so will have to work something out.   Was only diagnosed 3 days ago so still in a bit of a flat spin.

Oh sorry to hear that … just back from my consultation and have agreed to go for the lymph node biopsy, to put my mind at rest .   I play a lot of Padel so not looking forward to not being able to do that for a while after .

i hope you find some help to see you through your recovery… reach out to friends, sure everyone will rally round to help you out 

yes, I was gently 'pushed' towards the Lymph Node biopsy option as I am (generally) in very good health and relatively young so the anaesthetic shouldn't prove a problem.  I hate being a burden but I'm sure friends will help out.  Best wishes
