Hi,
Im 27, female and worried about skin cancer. I went to the GP around two weeks ago to have them look at two of my moles. They are both bigger than my other moles and funny shapes. They have changed over the years but i think this has coincided with when i have gained weight lol. They are on my breast and hip.
The gp said he doesnt think they are anything to worry about but best to get them checked so he put me on the 2 week pathway for suspected melanoma.
Last thursday i had a medical photogrophy appointment and was told the dermatologist will either review and discharge or review and make an appointment.
I called the derm and told them i go on holiday from the 31st too the 7th.
I have just checked my nhs app and there is an appointment with derm on the 16th. No letter on there yet.
I am worrying because i think an appointment means they found my photos concerning.
I suffer from health anxiety and i am really trying not to catastrophise or spiral.
Any advice from someone who has been through the same would be really really appreciated
Thanks
Hi I agree with other reply please try not to worry it is difficult I know but you have done the right thing I know loads of people that have been in your position and it’s been ok rather safe than sorry and if unfortunately it is more you are on road to dealing with it
the wait times between procedures and getting results is with part but in your case they may know just by looking your ok
we would complain if not taken notice of they doing due diligence
good luck let us know how it goes and be sure an ear to listen is here

Thank you! I am just going to try and put it in a box until the 16th, i suppose worrying wont change the outcome anyway! I am just going to try and relax and enjoy my holiday. I suppose if youre going to worry might aswell be on hol (slathered in factor 50) haha. Thanks for the reassurance! X
The worrying and waiting is the worst... I am 4 weeks into a 7 week wait for results. I go on holiday next week so it will be a sure distraction!
I don't know what the doctor does for you regarding photos, but in Scotland my GP just takes a photo on an app so not with a dermatoscope. I'm not sure if they can tell much from a photo if I'm honest... so I wouldn't worry too much that you have been sent a dermatology appointment, they may just want to take a closer look as already mentioned. Good luck with your appointment!
