Hi all,
Struggling to come to terms with the whirlwind going on around me at the moment. I’m 26 and just given birth to our first baby, during my pregnancy my partner noticed a change in a mole on my lower back. Mentioned to midwife & was referred for a biopsy end of October, gave birth beginning of December and was called back yesterday for the results to be told I have T1.5 Melanoma and need WLE & SLNB in the next few weeks.
Feel completely lost and overwhelmed with the situation and looking for any advice of how to process this and not think of the worst case scenario. I can’t look at my newborn without totally breaking down & terrified I’m not going to be here to see her grow up in the long term. Postpartum hormones and baby blues are not helping but if anyone has any positive stories or advice how to get through the waiting around I’d be really grateful.
thank you x
Sorry I don't have any advice on how to deal with it. I'm 5 months postpartum and just been told the same.
Hello, so I went through the same 18mths ago after the WLE and lymph node biopsy I was given the all clear, ask if you can have a PET scan to view your whole body to see if it's jumped anywhere. 18 months later mine has jumped and now I'm going for immunotherapy soon. My case is rare hopefully you will be ok. Also make sure you eat very healthy this helps and keeps you positive. Much love you can do it.
Hi don't worry to much there is a lot of treatment for it. I was diagnosed in july with 2 a melanoma on my right side of foot. I had a wle, skin graft and slnb of groin. Unfortunately mine did spread to groin lymph nodes but only tiny bits. I had 6 lymph nodes out 3 were positive.
I was also terrified but feel much better now. Before my surgery I had to have a mri of head and ct scan which came back clear apart from ovarian cyst which is fine just gets checked every few months. It took 8 weeks to get my results back from slnb so it is a long journey.
In October I got results for slnb they sent me for a pet scan. Then got referred to london to see oncologist and started first cycle of targeted therapy which is oral medication as mine was braf positive to stop it coming back have to take them for a year. And no major side effects yet.
Do you know how thick your melanoma is mine was 2mm breslow. People are living years with it now. X
