Melanoma

Hi! So I have had a mole removed, after waiting 7 weeks I found out it was Melanoma and it had grown down to a nerve. The mole is on my elbow. I have a wide excision and possible sentinel lymph node biopsy upcoming due to it spreading to a nerve. My question is about armpit and arm strain, for a long time now, before I even went to the GP about the mole. I have had a strain in armpit, shoulder and arm, on the side where the mole was. Has anyone else had any experience of this?

Thanks,

Sean.

Hi Sean and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you have recently been diagnosed with melanoma. I remember all too well what a shock it was on discovering what I thought was a harmless spot was, in fact, cancer.

Mine was on the top of my arm but I didn't experience the strain that you mention. Of course, this strain could be nothing to do with the melanoma you've now been diagnosed with, but we all tend to assume that every ache and pain we feel is related.

When is your wide local excision (WLE) and sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) appointment scheduled for? I've had both of those ops and I'm happy to share my experience with you if there's anything you want to ask.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
