  1. I've recently been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. Because of the size and location on my lip simple surgery has been ruled out and I am prepping for a course of Radiotherapy. It's been scary but I know I am luckier than a lot of people as the cancer hasn't spread further. Interested in any advice anyone can give me about getting through the treatment .
  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and that it isn't suitable for surgery. I've had melanoma and a basal cell carcinoma (BCC) removed by surgery and haven't had to have radiotherapy for either, so don't have the experience you're looking for.

As you know, the online community is divided up into different support groups, so I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also join the skin cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have had SCC. If this is something that you'd like to do, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there where you can then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
