A day of doing what you love must have fed your energies good for you.

couid you list me a few points to ask please for the pre opp I always have questions but they never seem to fit my appointments

  • The pre-op can be useful. I only saw a nurse for it not a doctor.  Questions to ask could be;

How big will the scars be?

Is it day surgery or do I stay in?

How many lymph nodes will they remove? ( Research shows there is no benefit to the removal of all lymph nodes if it is already in a lymph node and you can be left with severe lymphoedema)

What are the risks of surgery?

    Will it be painful afterwards?

Will there be a drain from the wound?

Will the removal of the lymph nodes definitely stop the cancer from  spreading? (And this question relates to the one above about not removing all of the nodes)

I can't think of any more hon. Hope the questions are ok.   Best perhaps to write them down.

    Xxxx

Dear allotment lover this is so very helpful thank you .

  • I would also add that the removal of lymph nodes is down to the surgeon concerned and with the oncologist they plan what they feel is the best way forward.  It was good to hear the example if the gentleman who had his removed with no long-term ill effects.  So please just ask questions like "why".  But that's me, I  like to know why things are being done and will always look for research to back up decisions!

    Xx

Hi my surgery is 21st I’ve met the surgeon and had part of my pre op .

I started antidepressant this week omg the side effects are taking me backwards but I am aware this csm be expected .

  • Hi Rescueme, I'm pleased you've got a date now.  As for antidepressants, I've been on them and off them for 21 years now.  I'm resigned to staying on them now but would like to reduce the dose.  Have you been on them before?  I tried sertraline, Prozac and then finally venlafaxine which works well for me. They should kick in after at least 2weeks and can always be increased for now and also can be changed if they don't suit you.   Is the reiki helping at all? One of my brother's is a reiki master! Sadly he lives far away.  My lovely girl is in Wales now visiting her friend, Charlie followed by a bus ride south to Trevor then either another bus ride or a lift to a 2 acre field which now has an almost ready compost toilet, an almost ready goat enclosure and lots of planted seeds!

Her boyfriend's parents bought a two acre field to build a house on, are temporarily in a caravan on site til the house is done. I plan to camp there in the summer and help out a bit. Not had a holiday for yrs and yrs. I've managed four consecutive days on my alottment so I'm quite chill right now.

You are doing well hon, taking each day as it comes. I hope your loved ones are coping ok, not an easy thing and as you've said before they are along with us for the journey and need love and support like us.

Fingers crossed your meds luck in soon and help to keep you afloat.

    Hearts️ love from me, Lucy.
