I am in a pickle

Hi Everyone,

I am currently waiting for the date for my WLE and SLNB for the mole removal 18th November (stage 1b). As I had that done privately due to the urgency I wasn't assigned a cancer nurse. I was then referred back to the NHS for the WLE etc . I do feel a bit lost to be honest but that's partly me who hates not knowing, would just like a date then could settle down and aim for that but a point of contact would help a lot.

The "pickle " bit....I felt the itching again (like before) on my other shoulder blade. I got my husband to take a photo...it sure is an ugly duckling of a mole so definitely needs investigation. I am trying to avoid Google but it's a bit like Pandora's box!

I do have a patient number so will try and speak to the hospital direct tomorrow. I hope to be able to explain the background.

So here I am on one of the downs of melanoma. I am getting paranoid as well being fair skinned and covered in freckles and moles. I guess we all go through that as well.

    Hi Anne1536,

I hope you hear from them with a date for the ops today. Hopefully they'll bump you up the list in order to compensate the wait and the error made.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks Elmyra,

I hope they do put me in the place on the list where I would have been if I had actually got on it!!!

Anne it was fab news! Well as fab as being told its a confirmed melaonma can be. It's in situ. The dermatologist told me she was shocked when she got the results and was surprised it hadn't spread further so feeling very lucky. She did a body check and need to have another mole removed on my stomach and monitor one on my chest. So now just waiting for next biopsy and contact from plastics for the WLE. I feel so so lucky x x

Not as yet....so I phoned again. This time I was put through to the wrong dept SobSobEventually the voice of reason came on the phone and took ownership.

    1. She confirmed that I am on the system.

    2. I was discussed 30/11

    3. I am due to have the WLE and SLNB.

    4. She gave me a direct number for the plastics team to phone tomorrow. She also gave me her direct number as a point if contact

I don't know what happened earlier but I am so grateful to this nurse for helping me . It's been s stressful day. Regarding my other mole she said it can be looked at when I get my appt.

Many thanks for your messages x

So happy that both got good news today.

It is amazing how a caring and competent  healthcare professional can change the whole experience, isn't it?

Hope it goes smoothly from here onwards for both!
