Hi, new to the forum. Diagnosed with 3a Braf positive. Have been offered either targeted therapy or single agent immunotherapy.
How did anyone else decide?
Hello Eagle
I am Brian one of the Community Champions here at Macmillan. I have just noticed your post has gone unanswered. I can't answer it myself as I have a different cancer, however by me replying your post will be "bumped up" to the top of the page and I hope seen and answered by other members of the Melonoma group.
I wish you well going forward with your treatment.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Eagle and a very warm welcome to our corner of the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I was diagnosed with Stage 2 melanoma so didn't have to decide between targeted therapy and immunotherapy. There are lots of people in the group who are on these treatments so I've done a search in the group for recent posts. These are the ones which mention targeted therapy and these are the ones which mention immunotherapy. You could have a read through some of them and contact the posters to ask how they made their decision.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
All the best for today
Hi Eagle, I wasn't offered immunotherapy. I was offered targeted and I agreed. I am stage 3D as I have micro melanoma satellites close to my original WLE. The reasoning was that Dabrafenib and Trametinib would work sooner than immunotherapy. I have been lucky and not suffered severe side effects. I have been on the treatment for 2 years now and am cancer free at the moment.
Hiya, I’m 3b BRAF positive and will have my oncology appointment in 2 weeks’ time. What is single agent immuno? Did they explain the risk and benefits of each to you?
