Hi,
I went to the GP last week about a mole that has changed the last 2 years. She’s described it as black, irregular border and shape. She said it is 2mm. As it’s on my back, from what I can see it has got slightly bigger and darker over time.
She has referred me via 2ww where they will take a close up picture and send it off to consultant.
I can see on NHS app the referral form and she has stated selected suspected melanoma and now I’m a mess and so scared. I’m only young and what if I’ve ignored it for too long.
I asked her on the day of she thought it could be something bad and she said no but is going to refer me.
The waiting is awful, I was trying to be positive but after seeing the notes all I am thinking is the worse :( what is the likelihood of it being melanoma and it having spread at 2mm? I suffer with severe health anxiety I can’t take my mind off it.
The best thing is to have the mole reviewed by a consultant as soon as possible, to rule out melanoma.
In order to get you onto the 2ww pathway, they will need to say it is “suspected melanoma”
I know it’s a scary time, but this is the quickest way to find out what is going on. Hopefully the consultant will agree with your GP that it’s not, but it’s much, much better to know what you’re dealing with, than to live with uncertainty for a longer period
