Hello
Yesterday I saw the dermatologist following a red flag referral by my Gp. It was about a 3mm red and brown slightly raised lesion just above my collar bone. It has been there for about 3 years but has recently grown and looks a bit crusty at times. The dermatologist examined it with the magnifying scope and then removed it (wasn’t expecting that!) saying it warranted analysis in the lab. It’s the next comment that worries me, “it might come back normal”. I just think the emphasis is a bit odd and am probably going to overthink this now for weeks until I get the results.
Hi Sweetsadiea9dd60 and a very warm welcome to our little corner of the online community.
It's natural to worry about things that medical professionals say and we're probably all guilty of overthinking things.
I don't think you should try and read anything into the comment of "it might come back normal" just as you can't read anything into it if they'd said 'it might not come back normal'.
Between now and when you get your results back, try and distract yourself by doing things you enjoy and remember, worrying won't change the outcome but it will ruin the present. Easier said than done, I know!
Anne
