Is 14 weeks acceptable for SLNB results following removal of a mole stay 1b diagnosis
Been given an appointment which is 14 weeks after biopsy
Didnt think wait would be that long
Hi Kel06f790 and a very warm welcome to our little corner of the online community
Fourteen weeks does seem like a long time but I'm guessing the pathology laboratories in your area of the country are very busy, hence the lengthy wait.
When I had my WLE and SLNB, 9 years ago now, my wait was only 2 weeks. However, I had waited 6 weeks for the initial results when the lesion was removed and I was told I had melanoma.
I think if I was in your position, I'd be tempted to ring my SCNS after say 4 weeks and see if the results are back and, if so, whether you could bring your appointment forward.
I've just had another thought and that is, is this appointment in 14 weeks definitely for your results or is it the first of your regular check-ups?
Anne
