Had a full body PET scan on Saturday 9th and getting a CT with contrast brain scan tomorrow. I’ve been told the results will be with my consultant in 7/10 days. I swing from, it’s all fine they won’t find anything to what if it’s everywhere, I’m trying to stay positive but the wait is agonising. I was diagnosed with stage 2TA but they found a “micro dot” which means I’m now stage 3 apparently. I’ve been told the scans will help with accurate staging? No one has suggested lymph node testing though so honestly I’m not sure what’s going on. I do have anxiety when dealing with medical staff so I think I might take someone with me to my next appointment so they can ask all the questions I can’t think of.
Hi Pricilla,
im sorry you are having such a difficult time.
I think you’re right - when you have a lot of anxiety particularly when it’s worse when at the clinic appointment it is a good idea to have somebody who can be there for you while waiting g to see the consultant, during and afterwards; I would also suggest mentioning it early on in the consultation so they are aware that you maybe need some more support and time during the appointment. Do you have a specialist nurse you could contact before you get your results? They are often very good at supporting patients and you can call back afterwards also if you feel like your questions weren’t answered fully.
wishing you all the very best for your results and treatment.
Barbara
