My 3yo had a biopsy taken from her nailbed (had a brown line on her nail that was getting darker and bigger quite quickly). The sample was being sent to histology to check for melanoma.
We were told 2-3 weeks for results and they made an appointment for us last monday to recieve them (hospital is over an hour away). We were driving up and i had a phone call to cancel as apparently they have sent everything back tot he lab for more testing.
I am going out of my mind with worry as they will not give any indication to us as to why they were sent back or what results came back first time.
Is this a normal length of time to wait?
Hello, I’m sure you’re really worried but I did read a very old post going back years ago on this forum where a biopsy was sent for another opinion. Maybe ring the consultants secretary and see if she can get more information for you. Really sorry you’re going through this and must be really hard as it’s your child and she’s only 3. I’m new on here so I’m not the best person for info but my heart goes out to you. Hoping you get your little ones results soon and that everything is ok.
